Bird Watch Kakadu
Go with guides who actually live out bush in Kakadu, not Darwin! With a 3-6 day itinerary (dependent on final program), Bird Watch Kakadu is the ultimate twitcher’s tour in the World Heritage Area. Touring in a luxury 4wd vehicle, this fantastic small group wildlife expedition (1-7 pax) has all the usual highlights and a whole lot more including areas where we have exclusive access! Experience Mamukala wetland bird hide, *Yellow Water boat cruise, Anbangbang and Malabanbandju Billabong. Then get away from the crowd and enjoy “Breakfast with the Birds” at *Sandy Billabong’s morning chorus and later spotlight for a variety of species on our exclusive Djarradjin Billabong night boat cruise. This is a unique opportunity to photograph (camera flash permitted at guide’s discretion) diurnal species at close range roosting in bank vegetation (see our photo album) and also observe nocturnal birds working the waterway. Morning and afternoon walks are also conducted at our wet season outstation homestead on the Bowali Creek, and the RAMSAR listed Buba wetlands, the most under-rated birding location in Kakadu and is only 300 metres from our camp! Accommodation is at Kakadu Culture Camp in our deluxe safari tents with all meals provided. Tour add-on options include Animal Tracks, East Alligator River boat cruise and camping on the West Arnhem Land coast at Sandy Creek, west of Warruwi Island. This tour is slow and steady; we do not go off racing around ticking off bird list’s as if in a competition! *A Murrumburr Aboriginal Traditional Owner will escort our group on Yellow Water boat cruise and then conduct a guided tour of the adjacent Warradjan Cultural Centre.
*If Sandy Billabong has no access, Breakfast with the Birds will be at sunrise on board our Djarradjin Billabong boat cruise. Injalak Hill Rock Art
Another fantastic one day tour is the Injalak Hill Rock Art tour. Only 45min 4wd from Jabiru, we drive across the East Alligator River and visit the Gunbalanya community in Arnhem Land. Climb Injalak Hill occupation site with a local Aboriginal guide, hear dreamtime stories, explore amazing rock art, and view Aboriginal artists at work at Injalak Art Centre. The art gallery is an excellent place to browse and purchase artworks including basket weaving, paintings and various cultural artefact’s. After lunch at East Alligator River spotting crocs, we guide you around Ubirr art site and visit areas where we have exclusive access before returning to accommodation in Jabiru or Kakadu Culture Camp.

See Kakadu and Arnhem Land as you’ve never seen it before! We can offer exclusive private touring off-road charters in a luxury Toyota LandCruiser 200 4WD vehicle (1 min-7 max), or for larger groups a 21 seat Toyota bus (Arnhem Land is strictly 4WD vehicles only).
We can pick-up from Darwin for (by light aircraft $3000 return or vehicle $1200 return) or Jabiru. Stay in accommodate at the famous Gagudju Crocodile Hotel (built in the shape of a crocodile), Lakeview Park or Aurora Lodge in Jabiru, or at Cooinda, the home of Yellow Water. And of course you’re also welcome to stay with us at Kakadu Culture Camp.
Ideal for a couple, a family, or small groups who want a luxury vehicle and an expert Kakadu guide all to themselves; we can carry from one passenger up to seven in the 4WD. Visit the Aboriginal Injalak Art and Craft Centre in Arnhem Land, enjoy a guided walk around ancient rock art sites at Injalak Hill; and if you want to you can camp overnight and fish or just chill out on a remote Arnhem Land beach!
